Public Domain Images from the Noun Project                                                                                            Picture it, very early 1990’s, …the night is young and you’d like some spanking play.  Or, at the very least, you’d like to see some spanking-themed pictures.  It’s been on your mind all day.  You sit at your desktop computer waiting for the menu to appear.  You select the QMODEM program and wait for it to load. You select The WoodShed from the BBS listings (short for “bulletin board system”) and press Return. 

   When looking for a new apartment, most people are focusing on the floor plan, where they can put that new couch, and whether or not the space will accommodate a work party.  However, on my tour, I was looking at the ceiling for places to hang chains and shackles to host not a dinner party, but rather to restrain my sub.   In writing our book, my coauthor and I visited a variety of home dungeons and interviewed those in our community who had constructed their own.  We wrote a little about the concept of a home dungeon, but now that I have created my own, I’ll share what I have learned and how easy it is to convert a small space into a place for pain and pleasure. 

Art by Lorenz; Remember to Celebrate on 8/8!   August 8 is recognized as International Consensual Spanking Day.  We hope that you all find a pleasant - or painfully pleasant - way to enjoy the 24th annual celebration of this day!   But what are the origins of this most fitting day?  In our book, Bad Lads, Strict Sirs, and the World of Adult Male Spanking , we noted that “The origins of this date are unknown” (page 258).  Happily, we have now discovered the exact history for International Consensual Spanking Day!  It took some online searching and cross-referencing of multiple links, but here we go…

The 117-degree desert heat was no match for the hands, paddles, belts, straps, brushes, canes, and more, wielded by the guys who attended the inaugural session of Hot Seat Vegas !  The weather really was hot - as in very hot, melting the soles of your shoes hot, being slapped with a hot towel hot - but if anything, this simply kept the more than 150 attendees indoors for plenty of socializing and spanking fun.  Why a new event in Vegas?  As one organizer explained, “We wanted to respond to the community’s desire for there to be an event at a place that was easy to get to, and where everyone who wanted a room could get a room. Having over 150 people attend this first time event was incredibly gratifying and we look forward to an even bigger event next year.”

“Let’s do a roleplay!” Many of us have spoken or heard those words.  Yet, the concept of roleplay may mean different things to different people - and another common refrain is, “I don’t roleplay well because I just can’t act.”  

One of the most fascinating and intriguing parts of our community is the diversity of  relationships and dynamics within it.  One of the most interesting, and yet multifaceted, is that of a “live-in.”

The drive through the Ontario countryside was beautiful.  The views were stunning and it felt as though I were escaping the stresses of everyday life - and I later found how true that actually was.  As dusk turned to nightfall, traffic was light and, in spite of diamond-shaped yellow warning signs, no moose appeared to be in the mood to interrupt my drive.  I was on my way to CanSpanks at the Fox Haven Campground, outside of Lavigne, Ontario.
